The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. For nearly a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through nearly a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society. Columbus Troop 45 has scouts who range in age from 11 to 17 years old. Boys may join the Troop provided that they are 11 years old, or have earned the Cub Scouting Arrow of Light award and are at least 10 years old, or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old. The troop's charter organization is Franklin Fire Company #1. The Troop meets each Tuesday evening. The adult leaders of Troop 45 strongly believe in teaching the scouts to become more responsible, to be involved in service to the community, and to learn outdoor skills. The boys are responsible for planning and running most meetings, with the assistance of the adult leaders. Our goal is to try to camp every 4-6 weeks, and our week-long overnight summer camp is scheduled in July.
